In the past couple of weeks, we have brought in some incredible new resources that I am just dying for have people look at. For example, Discipleship On The Edge is, by far, the best book I have read on the book of Revelation. I can’t recommend it enough. It was this book that inspired me to begin a series of studies on Revelation that you will find in our newsletter and online on our Theology of Persecution website. Enemies of the State? is an outstanding documentary on the persecution facing Christians in Vietnam and Laos and A Small Price to Pay is the true story of one of the many faithful pastors who endured so much during the days of the Soviet Union. It was in this era that The Voice of the Martyrs began its ministry. In short, these are three great resources that I am really proud to promote this week.
Discipleship On The Edge: An Expository Journey Through The Book of Revelation by Darrell W. Johnson
Revelation is probably the most read, but least understood book of the Bible. In Discipleship on the Edge, Darrell W. Johnson drives home the challenging and practical message of Revelation in thirty carefully crafted sermons. Paying careful attention to the circumstances surrounding its composition, Johnson shows that the book is not a "crystal ball" but rather a "discipleship manual." Thoroughly researched and accessible, this collection of sermons is a helpful resource for pastors and small group leaders who are looking for models to help them preach and teach from Revelation in a time when there is so much confusion about the future. ($20.00. Paperback, 412 pages)
Enemies of the State? by The Voice of the Martyrs
Witness the resilient faith of Christians in the two communist nations of Vietnam and Laos where believers face imprisonment without trial and torture simply for following Christ. Gain a unique insight into the challenges they face. Discover how the harder the authorities clamp down on Christianity, the more it spreads. ($10.00. 2009, 25 minutes DVD)
A Small Price to Pay by Harvey Yoder
Living in the Soviet Union under cruel, atheistic communism and growing up during World War II, young Mikhail Khorev saw much suffering and death. Often homeless and near starvation, he struggled to believe in God's love. This is the inspiring story of Mikhail who grew to be a man of God, willing to suffer prison for the God who loved him. You, too, will come to realize that everything we can give to the Christ who saves us is still a small price to pay. ($14.00 Paperback, 240 pages)

I have read"Discipleship on the Edge" and it is a precious book.I have been enriched and I have grown in my faith and it has opened my eyes to the Kingdom of God and the glory of Christ. It is a must read for all pastors and believers. An accompaning study book would be beneficial.Another book that I can really recommend is"Fifty Seven Words that change the World",A Journey Through the Lord's Prayer, also by Darrell W.Johnson.I quote from the back:"Nowhere is Jesus'brilliance more manifest than in the prayer he taught his disciples to pray......"It has enriched my life and deepened the relationship with my Lord.
