Swine flu merely an excuse to wipe out pigs owned by Christian farmers

The government ordered killing of hundreds of thousands of pigs in Egypt in the name of preventing the spread of swine flue is merely an excuse for wiping out an unpopular industry that provides a livelihood to many Egyptian Christians. The pig is an impure animal in Islam. Hence, they have always been unpopular with the public and many Egyptian TV programmes are saying this is the prime opportunity to get rid of the pig in Egypt. The opposition Muslim Brotherhood is also putting pressure on the government to carry out this cull, which the World Health Organization says in entirely unnecessary.   As this report by Radio France International points out, this cull will inevitably provide tremendous hardship to Egyptian Christians.
