Iranian Christian women to appear before the court Sunday morning

Elam Ministries, a ministry that specializes in serving the growing church in Iran, is reporting that after five months of being detained in Evin Prison in Tehran for their conversion to Christianity, two Iranian Christian women, Maryam Rustampoor (27) and Marzieh Amirizadeh (30) have been told that tomorrow, Sunday, August 9th at 7:00 am they will be taken to the court where they will hear of the court’s decision. Pray that their lawyer will be allowed to be present.

Elam is also reporting that Marzieh is in pain due to her spine, her tooth and searing headaches and desperately needs to see a specialist. She has not been allowed to, however.

Here is how Elam is recommending that we pray:

Let us thank Him:

  • For preserving, sustaining and strengthening them in prison.
  • For giving them the grace to be steadfast in their faith.
  • For the witness they have been in prison.
  • For the love, concern and prayer of many believers around the world.

Pray for their court hearing:

  • Pray that the court will set them free.
  • Pray that the presence and the anointing of the Holy Spirit will be with them.
  • That they will receive healing from all illness
  • That the peace of God will cover their minds and their hearts, and will keep them safe in Jesus and refresh them tonight.
  • That in all this the Lord will be greatly glorified and His perfect will be done.

Thank you so much for praying.

The Voice of the Martyrs highly recommends using IRAN 30 to pray daily for Iran.  Visit www.iran30.org to learn more.

Interestingly, I just "happened" to check the blog at 9:05 MST. I checked the time of day in Iran; the trial is on as I write. Back to praying...

I, too, have been praying ever since I received an email telling of the urgent need for prayer. Will you post any news of these two brave Sisters? Thank you.

It is a shame that President Obama did not tell the Islamic World that America does not kill or put on trial Christian born people who convert to Islam in America. We have freedom of religion in our country. I am praying for these two courageous women in Iran.

God bless you and keep you from the intentions of Satan and his instruments! Be strong and let the Holy Spirit to fulfill your hearts! Soon the Lord will come and will end with the evil of the world! I know that He is always with those who love him, suffer for him and his faithful! Glory to his name!

Is this website only for Chritians that are persecuted or believe themselves to be so? I cite the recent killing of a Muslim woman in court room in Dresden Germany, her killer was a young german man, a neo-nazi, and a self described Christian, angry at the world's muslims. He used a knife to stab both her and her husband. She died. I'd say this was an extreme case of persecution.

Yes, Howard, this is a site dedicated for Christians that are persecuted. Hence the name, "Persecuted Church Weblog". This is not to deny the terrible nature of the attack in Germany, but that is beyond the scope of our work.

I received an email from a friend that tells of a hanging sentence for these two women. Is this true? I have been making an effort to distribute information about persecution in Iran and I'd like to verify this news. Thanks.

No, we have not heard of any such sentence and do not believe it to be true. We will be sure to release any factual information that we receive.
