How much time did your church devote to the persecuted on IDOP Sunday? (survey)

As we look ahead and plan for the future, we would be interested in knowing how much time your church devoted to the persecuted church on International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP) on November 8.

If your church did set aside some time to remember those who are persecuted for their faith on IDOP Sunday, please let us know what exactly your church did in our comments section.  Thanks.

We gave the morning services to focusing on the Persecuted Church. Tonight we will use most of our time praying for specific situations. We used the map VOM provided and tonight will use the PPT slides.

I'm not going to answer the survey, because our church is going to be centering on persecution in 2 weeks' time -- just a scheduling thing. So you may want to leave the survey up for a bit if you want to catch others like our church

When we created the survey, we designed it to be active until November 30 for this very reason. Look forward to getting your response

we had an awesome service today our entire sermon was on the persecution Christians face and this evening we are holding a prayer meeting for the persecuted church complete with candlelight, volunteers acting as "hostile" parties and parking away from the church and walking to the service with bibles concealed. (I tried to post this on the Volunteer ambassador calendar but was unable to log on will have to contact Ed) very excited for tonite not only is our church hosting this but we invited all the churches int the area to join us!

Unfortunately, our church only spent about 3-5 minutes, however that was more than we expected. We have chosen as a family (with our 8 year old son) to spend the day using some of the resources from idop.org - devotionals and prayer map, as well as doing a project to make money for the North Korean Christmas Blessing.

We broadcast the persecution on our website www.redemptionnews.org. On the 6th of November we had a phone line prayer for the persecuted and preached and prayed for the persecuted in our service. We are committed to publishing and praying all year long. God bless our Loved ones. Amen

We spent about 15 minutes in the service, and about 40 minutes with the kids. In the service, we showed the video, with an introduction, and the Morning Prayer, the Children's Story and Junior Church were all about the Persecuted Church. Also, I made up an insert for the bulletin that gave a few individual cases from the VOMC site, and gave the web addresses for the IDOP partners, so hopefully some in the congregation will follow up.

The 1st Baptist Church in Wallaceburg remembered the soldiers and fallen soldiers in a Memorial service.
IDOP was not mentioned.
And I grieve!

Our church just completed our Global Impact conf. during which one entire evening was devoted to the persecuted church. Then, yesterday, we showed video footage about actual persecuted Christians while our choir sang. Then had special prayer for the P. Church. Again last night had prayer for the Church as well as specific missionaries who are working in sensitive areas of world ( our own members). Not as much time as desired, but our church is in process of growth in area of heightened awareness of persecution, esp. since our own members work in these areas of world.

Two weeks prior, Oct 24th, we distributed cards in the bulletins, with 1 persecuted country on it from your Global Report, encouraging people to make this a part of personal devotions. We then dedicated our entire evening service (6-7:30pm) to corporate prayer for the persecuted church. Next Sunday evening I will be preaching on Heb 11:35-36. We are going to keep prayer for a country a week as a part of our corporate prayer and pastoral prayer on Sunday mornings.

We gave a brief introduction (using the points from the Pastor's letter), and then broke off into 4 sections (to cover the Islam/Hindu/Communist/Other) of the church and smaller groups within each section. Each section was given a photocopied handout of the prayer points for the people group to pray together about. Prayer lasted about 15 minutes.

For the past couple of years, we have been spending 10 minutes or so in the service in which some of the needs are presented and then we pray. This year, our pastors were preaching through the Beatitudes and so asked if we could delay the IDOP presentation to coincide with "blessed are the persecuted." It worked out quite well. We showed the video and prayed. The sermon fit for the most part -- I think a little too much trying to apply to the troubles we face, but not completely. Over all, I think it went well and the comments after were good.
